After Holy Week: What Now?

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’”(Matthew 28:16-20).

What a week of reflection! We have seen the triumphal entry of Jesus and listened to His teachings. We have celebrated the Passover and have seen Jesus become our Passover lamb. We watched how the punishment for our sin, and for the sin of the world, was placed on Jesus’ shoulders as He died in our place! We have seen the disbelief and mourning of those who followed Jesus. And praise be to God, we have seen the glorious, eternity-changing resurrection of Jesus. What a week!

So now what do we do?  Simple….we GO! We have been entrusted with the gospel message, the hope for all the world. Jesus put His abounding love, grace, and forgiveness on full display for the world to see. It is our responsibility to share this message of salvation with everyone! There is no other response to the events of Holy Week.

We are called to be disciple-makers, investing in the lives of others so that they may come to know Jesus better. What a perfect culmination of Holy Week! We are commissioned to go, and Jesus promises that He will be with us, always. There is no time for delay, no path of complacency, and no way we can ignore the call. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. So go! Share the gospel.

As you go into this week, pray that the Lord will give you an opportunity to share the love of Jesus with one person you know. Start with one. Pray that the Lord would change this person’s heart more towards Him. Pray for his or her family. Pray for wisdom in this person’s life. Pray specifically for an opportunity to have a gospel-centered conversation. And when that opportunity comes, take it! Be courageous, because the Lord promises to be with us always until the end of the age!

Hallelujah!
