Who We Are

Kenwood Baptist Church (KBC) is an American Baptist church located in  Sycamore Township, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Kenwood and its immediate surrounding area are multi-class, multi-racial and multi-cultural.  Kenwood is boardered by Deer Park, Indian Hill, Blue Ash and Madeira and serves all of the Greater Cincinnati area, over 1.5 million people. Downtown Cincinnati is a fifteen-minute drive south from Kenwood on I-71. As a city, we boast all the cultural attractions of much larger cities as well as professional sports teams, two major universities and several smaller colleges. Hebrew Union College is also located here.

The Kenwood family includes people from age 0 to 95. We are represented by the standard nuclear family, young singles, single parents, and older singles, from those on welfare to the very wealthy.

Through our Sunday morning services and classes, as well as our Wednesday evening programs, Kenwood ministers to about 500 adults, youth and children. Our building is also used regularly throughout the week for community programs, youth activities, a Japanese fellowship, worship service and choir, along with a Chinese culture and language school and a regional women's Bible study. The congregation has about 15 different countries represented within it.

The structure of the Pastoral leadership is: a Senior Pastor and an Associate Pastor. Other full-time staff includes a Pastor of Worship, Pastor of Student Ministries and a Pastor to Children and Families.  We also have a Pastor of Visitation.

Constitutionally, we have a Moderator, Vice Moderator, Treasurer, and Secretary. There are a number of committees which meet regularly to help the church function more efficiently and to help the staff. The committees meet regularly and report through the Executive Council.

One of our higher-profile committees is the Missions Committee. As a church we give 10% of our tithes and offerings back to mission work.  We support many local ministries as well as a number of overseas missionaries.  As a member of the American Baptist Churches, USA, we dedicate a minimum of 55% of our mission giving to the American Baptist Church's International Ministries, and humanitarian relief efforts.

The church is active in the Miami Baptist Association. This is a regional group of churches that come together to share vision, prayer and assistance to each other. Recently, the Association came together to purchase Kirkwood Camp and Conference Center in Wilmington, Ohio.  Since taking control, the camp has seen an increase in use and is operating in the black. Kenwood Baptist and the staff have been critical to this success.
